A heartwarming story of resilience and hope emerged from Alberta, Canada, when a 7-month-old puppy named Nutmeg was struck by a passing car and left paralyzed in a snowy ditch. Despite her injuries, Nutmeg spent 12 hours waiting for help, unable to move but wagging her tail as a sign of life.
The puppy’s body heat created a visible hole in the snow, making it difficult for rescuers to locate her. Deeply camouflaged in the tall grasses along the road, Nutmeg was nearly impossible to find. The rescue efforts intensified after two teenagers spotted her on their way to a skateboard park and immediately contacted authorities.
After hours of searching, Nutmeg was finally discovered, showing her gentle nature despite her condition. Paralyzed and unable to move her back end, Nutmeg greeted rescuers with a wagging tail and a hopeful spirit. She was quickly taken to the Southern Alberta Veterinary Emergency (SAVE) for emergency treatment before being placed in the care of the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS).
While Nutmeg’s road to recovery will take time, she continues to show signs of happiness. Even during her rest, she still wags her tail, proving her resilient and loving nature. A long journey awaits her, but once healed, Nutmeg will be ready for adoption, bringing joy to her forever family.
