Construction Workers Save Three Abandoned Kittens From Trash Heap in St. Louis

While hauling debris into a dumpster in St. Louis, Missouri, a construction crew made a startling discovery: three tiny, frightened kittens hiding amongst the trash. The crew immediately stopped, concerned for the kittens’ safety, and reached out to Stray Rescue of St. Louis for help.

Rescuers Donna and Kiarra responded quickly, relieved that the kittens had been found before tragedy struck. “It was a scorching hot day,” a Stray Rescue representative shared with The Dodo. “We knew the kittens would have been overheated if they had been left much longer, and we’re so thankful the construction crew saw them in time before they started dumping heavy debris.”

The moment the rescuers arrived, they wasted no time. “The poor little babies were terrified,” the representative said. “They tried to hide, but within minutes, we had rescued all three.”

Once safely back at the shelter, the kittens were examined by veterinarians. They were all dehydrated, and sadly, one kitten was missing a paw. Despite their rough start, the kittens were given pain medication and began to relax as they received the care they so desperately needed.

Inspired by the Disney show That’s So Raven, the team named the kittens Raven Baxter, Eddie Thomas, and Chelsea Daniels, a tribute to their strength and resilience.

Now safe and sound, these kittens are ready for their next chapter. They are seeking foster homes where they can be socialized and given the love and attention they deserve. Once they’re fully ready, they will head to their forever homes, where they will live happy, comfortable lives.

“They’re ready for a foster home that will play with them, hold them, and help them feel safe around people,” said the Stray Rescue team. “These kittens will make wonderful, loving family pets.”
