He knew exactly who he could trust ❤️
In St. Louis, Missouri, a man had just stepped off the bus when he noticed a lone dog waiting quietly at the stop. He greeted the pup, a stranger to him, and continued walking toward his house. But when he reached his yard, he realized the dog had been trailing right behind him the entire way.

“This sweet boy just decided to follow him home,” said Donna Lochmann, chief life saving officer at Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL). “The man placed him safely in his backyard and called us right away.”
Without hesitation, the dog entered the yard, as if he knew rescue was finally here. When Lochmann and her colleague Natalie arrived, they expected a nervous, defensive pup. Instead, they were met with a gentle soul eager to trust.
“He was a total sweetheart from the start,” Lochmann said. “We slipped a leash on him easily, and he walked with us without a fuss.”

The rescuers named him Orville. On the ride to the shelter, Orville chose not to sit in the back seat like most dogs, but to ride up front near his rescuers, beaming with joy.
At the shelter, his happiness only grew. His tail wagged nonstop as he met the vet team, and to everyone’s surprise, he climbed right into a staff member’s lap for cuddles.
“He is beyond adorable,” SRSL later wrote in a post. “We’re so happy he’s safe and finally getting the love he deserves.”

Orville’s wounds were cleaned, his belly was filled with a proper meal, and he settled into a warm kennel. Though no one knows his past, one thing is clear: he has finally found the care and comfort he was searching for.
Now healthy and thriving, Orville is ready for his forever home. While no family has stepped forward yet, his rescuers know the right match will come. Until then, Orville continues to shower everyone at the shelter with love — proving that sometimes, dogs choose us before we even realize we need them.
