After months of speculation, actress Cheryl Hines is setting the record straight about her relationship with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Speaking to The Wall Street Journal, Hines, 59, addressed questions surrounding her marriage, which has been under public scrutiny since Kennedy’s alleged involvement in a 2024 sexting controversy and his recent political shift to join Donald Trump’s cabinet as U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Without naming specific reports, Hines made it clear she has no interest in revisiting every rumor.
“Bobby and I talk about everything. We’re really good friends, and we trust each other,” she said. “One would assume we love each other, we’re still married, and whatever we’ve been through is behind us.”
The Curb Your Enthusiasm star revealed that more details will be shared in her forthcoming memoir Unscripted.
The controversy dates back nearly a year, when former New York Magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi was suspended after admitting to a “personal relationship” with a source connected to the 2024 presidential race. While neither Nuzzi nor the magazine named Kennedy, multiple outlets reported it was him — an allegation he denied, stating he had met Nuzzi only once for an interview.
Kennedy’s political journey has been just as headline-grabbing. Initially a Democrat in the 2024 race, he later ran as an Independent before withdrawing and endorsing Trump — a move that surprised many of his supporters.
Hines acknowledged the backlash:
“Some people are angry or disappointed to the point they can’t even talk about it. It’s rather strange.”
On Kennedy’s controversial health stance and his “Make America Healthy Again” initiative — which promotes raw milk consumption, among other things — Hines expressed no concern.
“That doesn’t worry or scare me. I feel very connected to MAHA,” she said.
Married since 2014, Hines shares a daughter, Catherine Rose Young, with her ex-husband Paul Young. Kennedy has six children from previous marriages, and his late wife Mary Richardson died in 2012.
