On a late August afternoon in Missouri, traffic thundered overhead as cars sped across a busy interstate. Down below, hidden in the shadows of a concrete overpass, a pair of soft eyes quietly stared out. The eyes belonged to a small blonde pup, curled tightly in an alcove by the roadside, his chin pressed to the ground as if he were waiting for someone to notice him.

When Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL) received a call about a dog hiding under the overpass, their team wasted no time. Pulling up to the scene, they quickly spotted the little face peeking through the shadows.
Despite the roar of traffic, the rescuers approached with calm voices and gentle movements. Within minutes, a leash slipped softly around the pup’s neck. It was as if he knew his chance for a new life had finally arrived.
Meet Remi: A Gentle Soul With a Playful Spirit
Back at the SRSL headquarters, the pup was given food, water, and a thorough checkup. To everyone’s relief, he was in surprisingly good health for a dog who had been all alone. Estimated to be about three years old and likely a Pyrenees mix, the team gave him a name: Remi.
At first shy, Remi soon began to show who he really was — wagging his tail, leaning into hugs, and even clumsily bounding after toys like a carefree puppy. His transformation from scared to spirited happened faster than anyone expected.
Finding Family
It wasn’t long before Remi found his perfect match. Foster parents George and Vicki Dunn welcomed him into their home, and almost instantly, his personality bloomed.
“He’s such a sweet boy,” George said. “In just a short time, he’s come out of his shell completely. He’s playful, loving, and already part of our family.”
Now, instead of hiding in fear, Remi spends his days exploring the yard, enjoying long walks, and curling up in comfort at night — always surrounded by love.
