Country icon John Michael Montgomery is officially a grandfather — and fans across social media are celebrating the deeply personal way his family honored the occasion. His newborn granddaughter, Charlotte Lane Denning, heard her very first song the moment she entered the world: Montgomery’s 1994 hit ballad, “Rope the Moon.”
That meaningful choice came from her father, country artist Travis Denning, who explained in a touching video that the song has long been dedicated to Charlotte’s mother, Madison Montgomery, during John’s live performances. “I had a lot of options,” Travis shared, “but then I remembered I know a guy who dedicates this song to her mama every night he’s on stage. It was a no-brainer.”
Charlotte’s arrival was announced with heartwarming photos — one featuring the newborn wrapped in a personalized swaddle and bow, and another of proud parents Madison and Travis smiling with their daughter.

Montgomery, overwhelmed with emotion, shared his joy on Instagram writing: “So happy to be a grandpa!” This marks a new chapter for the singer and his wife Crystal, already proud parents to Madison and Walker Montgomery — the latter also forging his own path in country music.

With Charlotte’s first lullaby echoing through the family legacy, it’s clear this musical tradition runs deeper than chart success — it’s a story of generational love, stitched into every lyric.
