Tiny Street Puppy Rahi Overcomes Massive Hernia

On a quiet day in India, rescuers from Star Rescue Network (RSA India) received an urgent call about a tiny street puppy in distress. When they arrived, they found Rahi—frail, alone, and bearing an enormous, swollen belly that prevented her from lying down comfortably. Rather than a tumor, veterinarians diagnosed her with a severe inguinal hernia, a condition allowing internal organs to protrude through a weak spot in her abdominal wall

Despite her small size and fragile strength, the veterinary team did not hesitate: Rahi underwent delicate surgery to repair the hernia. Additionally, two loose teeth were extracted during the operation as a preventive measure to eliminate potential pain or infection.

The road to recovery was slow but steady. Though she was initially too weak to respond, by the second day post-surgery, Rahi began wagging her tail—her first sign of rekindled vitality. Soon after, she was moving freely, playing with shelter staff, and embracing life with newfound energy.

Rahi’s transformation—from an emaciated pup weighed down by a life-threatening hernia to a bright, energetic companion—highlights the profound influence of timely veterinary care and compassion. Her journey reminds us that every act of rescue, no matter how small, can rewrite an animal’s fate.

The story of Rahi urges us to support shelters and rescue operations. Behind every vulnerable animal lies a story waiting to be healed—and with the right help, a second chance at a joyful life.
